I agonized about what to do with the ugly master closet folded doors. I knew I wanted something a little more sophisticated and more in tune with the rest of the newly remodeled closet and bedroom but everything I priced was exorbitant. So I decided to transform them and give them an elegant French twist.
My very creative husband cut out all the wooden slats. I then painted the doors the same ivory color I used for all the woodwork and crown molding in the bedroom. Then we ordered glass panel from our local glass shop. I first thought I wanted distressed or antique glass but that also became too expensive. Once, the glass panels were put in place, we installed the doors. I was thrilled to have preserved the beautiful light given by the little window in the closet. However, as much as I liked my new closet I did not want it to be the first thing we saw when we entered the bedroom. So once again, I found myself in a conundrum. I also did not want the regular wooden pulls that came with the original doors. So I began looking in all my familiar shops when I found these delicate diamonds pulls. I know immediately that was what I was looking for and decided to put one on each panel. Then, I found this very airy and shimmery tulle. I also bought sparkling gold tape to finish the look. I love the final result. It conserves the light, gives a little privacy and shimmers with the sun and at night when the lights are on. |
